Concept An idea looking for readers.

Your town,
by someone who lives there.

One short note a week on the few things near you that are worth leaving the house for. Written by a person in your town, from walking around in it.

The product does not exist yet. This page explains the idea and asks whether you would want it.

How it would work

  1. Pick your X.

Your town, how far you are willing to go, and up to three things you care about. New places, live music, markets, kids, makers, volunteering. That is your X.

  2. A local picks the best of it.

Each town would have one writer, the town's X. Someone who reads the flyer taped to the bakery door and can tell you in two sentences whether the market is worth the drive.

  3. One note a week.

A handful of items, each a sentence or two, matched to your X. Short enough to read while the coffee brews. It would arrive once a week and then leave you alone.

Try the shape of it

Fill in your X and a sample note assembles itself. Everything in the sample is invented to show the form. No real place, event or person appears in it.

How far you'd go
What you care about (pick up to three)

Needs a town name and at least one interest.

A placeholder. Fill in the form and this becomes yours.

Future tense

Know your town?
Be its X.

Each town would have one writer: the person who already goes to things and notices when the sign changes on the corner lot. Once a week they would write the note for their town, under their own name.

If that sounds like you, or like someone you know, tell us where you are. When writers are needed, towns with a name on the list would come first.

Put your town on the list

Want to hear if this becomes real?

Leave an email and your town. You would hear from us once there is something to show. Readers, would-be writers and local businesses are all welcome.
